Leadership Team

Zak Parpia

Zak Parpia is a native of Mumbai, India and has been in construction in some form or another throughout his career in both India and Washington State; a business that he loves and enjoys enormously.

He earned his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Bombay and Master’s in Civil Engineering from Washington State University.  He went on to start his homebuilding business in 1976 and established Himalaya Homes in 1979.  He has been building for over 40 years and has built nearly 3000 homes since he started!  He has been recognized over the years for his home building with the award for Builder of the Year (1986) in Washington State, as well as, Builder of the Year (1992) for King & Snohomish Counties.

In 1997 he sat as President of the Master Builders Association for King and Snohomish Counties and continues today to find it rewarding to be involved in the industry in a leadership position with the state and local builder organizations.

He also enjoys working with his Himalaya Team, which not only includes staff, but also our trade partners.  He believes that this level of accomplishment could not have been done without their support, energy, ideas and loyalty.  He is delighted to be working in a mentorship capacity today as the business moves forward with his son taking the reins.

In his free time, you will likely find him enjoying some well-deserved time sailing, travelling, skiing, boating or golfing.

Raheem Parpia

Raheem Parpia was born and raised in Washington and continues to enjoy all of the greatness of his home state, rain or shine.  He grew up in the homebuilding industry, running around job sites and broker opens for the new plats that Himalaya Homes built and has been immersing himself in the ever-changing and complex world of real estate ever since.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California with a major in International Relations and a minor in Business and Entrepreneurship.  But he didn’t stop there.  He also went on to obtain his Real Estate license!  Having worked in a variety of industries from IT Sales and Service to Non-Profit work to Social Enterprise, he found that construction and real estate have a special place in his heart.  In 2016 he decided to apply his knowledge and experience to the family business and joined the Himalaya Team.  Now he can enjoy working alongside his father while fulfilling his desire to carry the family’s legacy into a new generation.

In his free time, you could find him reading a good book, playing a game of lacrosse and spending time with his dog and “her” two cats.  This sometimes happens when he’s not volunteering on projects that he’s passionate about.
